Sandwich Public Schools

On August 27th, 2025 the Sandwich School Committee voted unanimously to approve the 2025-2030 Sandwich Public Schools Strategic Plan. Between January and June 2025 a Core Strategic Planning Team consisting of team of 38 Sandwich teachers, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members met six times. Each session was facilitated by Dr. Ruth Gilbert-Whitner, retired Superintendent of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District. Dr. Whitner led the team in using the Planning for Success model as supported by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. The model requires that all participants participate in an “Envisioning the Future” protocol, one where all envision what exactly the Sandwich Public Schools will look like in five years, in the year 2030.

The strategic objectives are the “big rocks” or the overarching goals that must guide the district in its work over the next several years. The strategic initiatives are specific programs, structures, practices, and staffing that promote the district’s successful achievement of the strategic objectives.

1. TEACHING & LEARNING: Prioritize high-quality instruction grounded in a K-12 aligned standards-based curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.
2. SUPPORTS FOR ALL STUDENTS: Refine and align district-wide multi-tiered systems of support to address students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Develop and implement a plan that instills a sense of belonging and pride in Sandwich throughout the district and community.
3. CLIMATE AND CULTURE/ SCHOOL & COMMUNITY: Develop and implement a plan that instills a sense of belonging and pride in Sandwich throughout the district and community
4. FACILITIES & CAPITAL PLANNING: Develop, implement, and fund a comprehensive capital/operations plan that ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all students.
