Sandwich Middle High School Athletics

Sandwich Middle High School students believe in five core values - Performance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence (P.R.I.D.E.). Interscholastic athletic competition is an extension of the classroom and an educational activity that provides outstanding opportunities to teach life lessons. Through participation in such programs, young people learn values and skills that help prepare them for the future. Leadership, goal-setting, teamwork, decision-making, perseverance, integrity, sacrifice, healthy competition, and overcoming adversity are inherent in the interscholastic athletic framework and also support the academic mission of Sandwich Middle High School.

Student-athletes earn the privilege to participate by succeeding academically, and the resulting positive outcomes continue far beyond graduation. These programs exist to prepare young men and women for the next level of life, not the next level of athletics. Victories are achieved through athletics by developing successful athletes and teams, but more importantly, wins are achieved through the educational experience by developing successful and responsible students, leaders, and community members. Blue Knight Pride!

Winter Tryout Information 2025-2026

Before any student can tryout or participate in a winter sport at Sandwich Middle High School, the following requirements must be met.

1. Student-athletes must have a valid physical in order to participate in any athletics program at Sandwich Middle High School. Physicals are good for 13 months from the date of the visit. Hard copies must be hand-delivered to athletic trainer, Kelly Spurr, scanned and emailed to kspurr@sandwich.k12.ma.us, or faxed to Cindy Desimone at (508) 833-1008 . Do not assume that there is a copy on file with the nursing office!

As the start of the winter season approaches, Mrs. Spurr will work with our coaching staff to determine which student-athletes are required to take the IMPACT/Concussion test. Student-athletes will be notified, asap.

2. A parent/guardian is responsible for filling out this online form completely and ensuring that any and all medical information concerning your child's health, medical concerns, injuries, medications, and allergies are reported to the Dept. of Athletics and coaching staff.

3. Student-athletes and parents/guardians must read the Sandwich Middle High School Student Handbook which can be found on the website.

4. Parent/guardian must have completed the FREE, NFHS online concussion course within the past 12 months. The course can be found Free NFHS Online Concussion Course

5. Reach out to the athletic department (Sean Donovan sdonovan@sandwich.k12.ma.us or Ann Powers apowers@sandwich.k12.ma.us) if you are encountering any hardships with payment.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Without proof of a valid physical, student-athletes will not be eligible to tryout for a sport at Sandwich Middle High School. There will be no exceptions made.  Students will complete three online courses through NFHS regarding Sportsmanship, Social Media, and Hazing Prevention.
