This was a busy week at Forestdale, with lots of extra curricular activities going on for every grade level. Kindergarteners were visited by a local author (and Kindergarten & Preschool parent), second graders had a cardboard building challenge, a step up day, and the whole school celebrated Flag Day.

I'd like to take a moment and thank you for sharing your wonderful children this amazing school year. I hope you have a safe and fun filled summer with your children, and I look forward to seeing you back here for the 26-27 school year!

-Kara Schofield, Assistant Principal

Author Visit- Katherine Lockwood

Local author and Forestdale parent Katherine (Katie) Lockwood came to read her newest published book Oh No! to the kindergarten classes on Tuesday, June 9th. This book is the third in a series of PK-3 picture books by Katie Lockwood that help teach about being an upstander and helps build social skills. Ms. Lockwood read the story and answered some pointed questions from the kindergarten authors. As a special gift, Ms. Lockwood donated a copy of Oh No! for each Kindergartener student to take home. Many thanks Ms. Lockwood for presenting to our K students and for the very generous donation of books for our earliest readers.

Mrs. Eastman's Class

Ms. Eastman's class took advantage of the amazing weather this week and did their poetry writing outside in the "Together We Grow" garden. Students found a cozy little nook for some poetry writing inspiration!

Congratulations Mrs. Eastman

Cardboard Challenge

The second grade team of teachers, staff, students and families have been stockpiling cardboard for the Second Grade Cardboard Challenge! Students in all classes got to explore, create and build with all types of cardboard. Students could work with friends or solo on a creative idea. While a very messy project for the MPR, it was one that the students truly enjoyed!
