Friday marked a special day at the Oak Ridge School, as children's author Bruce Coville, author of the My Teacher is an Alien series, visited the school and did a presentation for all 5th and 6th graders Mr. Coville walked the students through the storytelling process in a fun and informative way, sharing many great anecdotes about his creative process. Oak Ridge also offered a workshop for students and families for students after dismissal.

Many thanks to the Sandwich Elementary PTA for their support in creating this meaningful experience!

Mr. D. Serves Up Lunch at Forestdale

Forestdale students celebrated an incredible schoolwide achievement with a special reward on Tuesday, March 31st. After surpassing the ambitious goal of 40,000 reading minutes during Read Across America Week, Forestdale Principal Chris Dintino had the privilege of serving lunch to all of our students, a fun (and slightly sticky!) pancake-themed experience that brought lots of smiles.

The school is especially proud to share that our students didn’t just meet the goal, they exceeded it, logging over 49,000 minutes of reading during the week of March 9–13!

This accomplishment reflects the strong commitment, enthusiasm, and love of reading shown by the entire school community.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a culture of reading at home and at school,. Your partnership makes achievements like this possible!

Congratulations to the six Oak Ridge violinists who took part in the All Cape String Jamboree. All six violinists participated in the advanced orchestra. Beyond the music, it was a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with fellow musicians from other schools.

A big thank you to the Cape Cod Music Educators who put this event together, and Oak Ridge Instrumental Music Teacher Ben Healy for his support and guidance!

SMHS Students Take a Deep Dive into AI

Recently students in SMHS's Artificial Intelligence class had the unique opportunity to hear from Lincoln Davidson (pictured above), a policy and analysis leader for GenAI.mil, the U.S. Department of War’s enterprise generative AI platformDavidson focuses on expanding the use of data, analytics, and AI to support national security efforts.

During his virtual visit, Davidson discussed how AI is being used in real-world applications and encouraged students to think about both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with powerful technologies.

Davidson offered students a unique perspective on how technical skills and policy knowledge can come together in impactful ways. His visit gave students a glimpse into the growing role of AI beyond the classroom and sparked thoughtful questions about the future of the field.
