Students at Oak Ridge School have partnered with Sandwich Recreation and RideAway Adventures to launch a Bicycle Maintenance Club, creating an authentic, hands-on learning experience with a meaningful impact across our district.
As part of this initiative, Oak Ridge students have taken on the responsibility of building brand-new bicycles that will be used by Forestdale students in an upcoming spring physical education unit focused on balance and bike riding. This work not only builds technical skills, but also fosters pride, collaboration, and a strong sense of contribution to their school community.
On Monday, March 16th, students were hard at work assembling bikes at RideAway Adventures, in downtown Sandwich, demonstrating focus, teamwork, and problem-solving throughout the process.
This is a powerful example of our community coming together to support student learning and opportunity. A sincere thank you to Sandwich Recreation, RideAway Adventures (owner and former SHS graduate Mike Morrison and David Mulligan), and Sandwich School Committee Chairman and biking enthusiast Kevin Sareault, who generously shared their time and expertise to guide students through the bike assembly process
