8th Graders are the State's Best!

Sandwich Middle High School eighth grade students Serena Perez and Heidi Prosper stand in the from foyer of the school with middle school engineering teacher Steve Watson holding a banner and certificate as winners of this year's Student Solve competition by the One8 Foundation.
Heidi and Serena embrace joyfully in a school hallway, with Heidi lifting up Serena.
Sandwich Middle High School 8th graders, Serena Perez and Heidi Prosper, literally jumped for joy a week ago when they learned they had won the One8 Student Solve event held this past December.

Partnering with Liberty Mutual and the Pan-Mass Challenge, students explored mission-driven challenges related to community engagement and large-scale event planning, gaining insight into how problem solving and innovation support making a meaningful impact.

Serena and Heidi competed against more than 250 students from across the state to create a solution to a real-world challenge proposed by Liberty Mutual.

We are incredibly proud of Serena and Heidi for representing Sandwich Middle High School so well and showcasing the power of student innovation. Special thanks to middle school engineering teacher, Mr. Steve Watson, for his guidance and encouragement.

Spreading Kindness at Oak Ridge & Forestdale

A group of people, including children and adults, stand in a hallway near double doors, with some clapping.
A large group of Sandwich Middle High School students and adults pose for a photo in the Forestdale School main foyer, with banners and artwork visible on the walls.
As part of the national Great Kindness Challenge Week, Sandwich Middle High School students visited Oak Ridge and Forestdale Elementary Schools to help spread kindness and positivity throughout our school community.

Students, staff, and community members, including town officials and members of Sandwich Public Safety, formed Kindness Tunnels at both schools, greeting arriving students with smiles, waves, cheers, and words of encouragement. The tunnels created an uplifting start to the day and highlighted the power of small acts of kindness.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this a meaningful and memorable experience for our elementary students.

We are pleased to welcome to the district new School Resource Officer Daniel Halloran, who this past week started his duties at the Forestdale and Oak Ridge Schools. • He played football as a Blue Knight

Officer Halloran will be taking on the role of Heather Huska, who has been promoted by the Sandwich PD to detective. Congratulations to Detective Huska and welcome aboard, Officer Halloran!

Yesterday and Friday marked the 16th annual Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Blood Drive sponsored by the Xiarhos Foundation and Cape Cod Healthcare. The two day event generated dozens of pints of blood which are used for local patients in need. The Sandwich Middle High School Boys Hockey Team spent the morning at the Yarmouth blood drive, assisting with operations and helping donors. The team also presented a proud State Representative Steven Xiarhos (pictured above with 100 Club President Kristen Levy) with an honorary Sandwich Middle High School hockey uniform shirt.
