Book Nook Comes to Oak Ridge

Two Oak Ridge teachers and two students stand in front of a book vending machine, holding books.
A student looks at a book vending machine, possibly about to make a selection.
The Oak Ridge Administration is delighted to report that after much planning, the Book Nook Vending Machine has arrived and been installed in the Oak Ridge Cafeteria. The machine works off tokens, which may given to students for positive behavior, grades, attendance, etc. The staff is currently working on criteria on how students may earn tokens. Many thanks to the Sandwich Elementary PTA for purchase of the Book Nook!

Signed, Sealed, and Delivered!

Senior Softball player Mia Consalvi, her family members, and teammates pose for a photo during the Blue Knight signing event, with balloons in the background.
Wednesday, November 12 was a proud day at Sandwich Middle High School as coaches, friends, and families gathered to celebrate our senior student-athletes signing their commitments to play at the collegiate level. Each of these Blue Knights has demonstrated outstanding dedication both on the field and in the classroom, earning the opportunity to continue their athletic and academic journeys at the next level.

Congratulations to our 2025 college signees:
  • Mia Consalvi – University of New Haven (Softball)
  • Megan Dwyer – Merrimack College (Field Hockey)
  • Kyla Darmon – Assumption University (Lacrosse)
  • Joe Coughlan – Bryant University (Baseball)
  • Megan Jakubicka – University of New Hampshire (Soccer)

Forestdale Sports New Tables

Shown is a school cafeteria with new Forestdale School logo blue tables and black chairs on wheels.
An empty Forestdale School cafeteria with blue tables and chairs, ready for students.
Last week, the Forestdale School received brand-new cafeteria tables — replacing the original ones that dated back to the school’s opening in 1989 as a PreK–8 building.

The new tables proudly feature the Forestdale School logo and are designed with an age-appropriate seating height for students ages 5–8. Each table is also ADA compliant, ensuring accessibility for students who use mobility aids.
Beyond their updated design, these tables promote a more inclusive and comfortable dining environment, allowing all students to enjoy breakfast and lunch together in a welcoming space that reflects Forestdale pride.

Students Bring Biodiversity to Life

A Grade 7 student sits in front of a colorful mural depicting marine life.
Students paint a mural of sea creatures on a Sandwich Middle School hallway wall.
Sandwich Middle High School Grade 7 students have been busy turning the middle school’s 2nd floor into a vibrant celebration of Cape Cod! Their Biodiversity of Cape Cod mural will showcase seven unique ecosystems filled with native species — and the students are loving every minute of bringing it to life.

Under the creative guidance of project art consultant (and proud SMHS parent!) Donna Rockwell, this mural is becoming something truly incredible. A special thanks to Ms. Rockwell for helping our students dream big and paint even bigger!
