This Week on the Ridge

Our third graders had a wonderful time exploring history during their field trip to Plimoth Patuxet, while our fourth graders enjoyed an inspiring Young People’s Concert at Barnstable High School. Back at school, students helped brighten our lobby by decorating our bulletin board with creative “Turkeys in Disguise.” Today, SMHS students came down to play at recess with our students!

We were also proud to celebrate ESP Appreciation Day on Wednesday, honoring the incredible support staff who make such a difference every day. And an exciting surprise arrived — our brand-new Book Nook Vending Machine, generously funded by the PTA! Students are already excited to be using it!

Another impressive week of donations! We collected 604 donations for Week 3. In total, Oak Ridge has collected over 2,020 items to donate to the Sandwich Food Pantry!

Our grade level totals are as follows:
Grade 3: 146
Grade 4: 86
Grade 5: 264
Grade 6: 108

Awesome job to Mrs. Arch's class, for collecting over 45 items, and Mrs. Black, Mrs. Hunt, and Ms. Fragano's homerooms for donating over 60 items! The last day of the Food Drive has been changed to Tuesday, 11/25. Thank you for all of your support!!

The Sandwich Public Schools Food Pantry located at SMHS will be open next Tuesday, 11/25.

Reminders & Updates

Spelling Bee

The Oak Ridge Spelling Bee is back and it’s new and improved. We are excited to announce that we have registered to be a part of the official Scripps National Spelling Bee! Because of this, the process is a little different this year, and with a shorter timeline, we need to begin preparing for the competition now! This week, each student has received a list of 50 grade level words to study for the classroom round. Classroom rounds will take place during the week of 12/1, but studying should take place at home. No registration necessary!
While all students will receive a list of words, participation is optional!

PTA News

The Sugar Plum Fairy Shopping Event is November 23rd!
The holidays are full of magic, and this event might just be the sweetest tradition of all. The Sugar Plum Fairy Shopping Event gives children the opportunity to experience the joy of giving by doing their own holiday shopping—independently.

Here’s how the event works:
Step 1: Bring your child who will get paired with one of our friendly volunteer “shoppers.” Each child gets a one-on-one helper who guides them through the store to choose gifts for family and friends — no parents/guardians allowed (shhh... it’s a surprise!). Please send cash or a check for your child’s shopping. Checks should be made payable to Sandwich Elementary PTA.
Step 2: Children secretly shop from a special selection of affordable gifts ($10 or less), perfect for everyone on their list.
Step 3: Once their shopping is done, our team wraps everything up — ready to go straight under the tree!

Timed Entry for a Smooth Experience:
To help with the flow and keep the magic organized, please arrive during your family’s time window. Gifts will be restocked throughout the day so there will be plenty of fresh and unique inventory to choose from no matter what time you arrive!
