Oak Ridge Artists Recognized

Four children stand proudly, holding certificates and pumpkin buckets at a school event.
Whether our students are in Pre-Kindergarten, a member of the Class of '26, or somewhere in between, we are all Blue Knights! With that mindset, the Oak Ridge Administration recently recognized the winners of the Oak Ridge Poster Contest, one where talented Oak Ridge artists created posters with messages on what being a Blue Knight is all about. Out of 84 excellent entries, a panel of judges selected one winner from each grade level. Congratulations to Lucy Noble (Grade 3), Dylan Trapasso (Grade 4), Henry Tomlinson (Grade 5), and Vera Del Monte-Sipma (Grade 6)! Their artwork will be permanently displayed at Oak Ridge, and special magnets featuring their designs will be made. A big thank-you to all who participated and helped brighten the Oak Ridge halls with their creativity!

Below please note the winning entries!

Grade 3 winning entry by Lucy Noble- A colorful drawing of a dragon with a rider under a bright sun.
the winning Grade 4 entry by Dylan Trapasso, a colorful drawing with the words 'We all Belong here at OAK RIDGE!'
The grade 5 winning entry by Henry Tomlinson, A drawing of a blue knight holding a flag with an American flag design and a globe.
The grade 6 winning entry by Vera Del Monte-Sipma, depicting a detailed knight's helmet and armor against a blue sky.

Forestdale School Garden Project

An aerial view of the planned Forestdale community garden with raised beds, benches, and a small shed.
We are proud to announce that new Forestdale Garden is officially underway, with construction led by Coastal Roots Landscape & Design of Forestdale. This long-anticipated project, years in the making, is on track to be completed by early October.

The garden will feature individual raised beds for every classroom, including Integrated Preschool, along with two frog ponds, protective fencing, and multiple birdhouses. Electrical and irrigation systems will also be installed, ensuring the space is both functional and sustainable.

Once complete, the Forestdale Garden will serve as a vibrant outdoor classroom—providing students with rich opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning while fostering curiosity, creativity, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
